2010.08 - Anisha: Sustainable Rural Development in Karnataka

Poor quality of soil, chemical fertilisers, pesticides, indebtedness, dependence on the market for food, no alternative employment opportunities, as well as poor nutrition and health are all problems Anisha hopes to address with this project to transform 500 acres of agricultural land from chemical to organic farming and initiate “kitchen gardening” to provide security for 200 families in rural Karnataka.

2010.07 Planning for the MDG Summit

From June 14-15, 2010, Myra Margolin attended the Informal, Interactive Hearings of the General Assembly with Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the Private Sector at the UN Headquarters in New York. There NGOs, CSOs and members of the private sector provided input into the planning process for the upcoming high-level plenary meeting on the Millennium Development Goals (also called the MDG Summit) that will occur this September.

Informing donors about how you are being diligent in the use of their money; and that projects are doing what they said they would do; promotion of the work of Susila Dharma to members and outside Subud.

The advantage of having a Susila Dharma board is to have a face and a body to speak with, several people to allocate the work to, several shoulders to bear the burdens, and an address. You will appreciate having partners with different expertise like finance, fundraising or marketing, especially when dealing with donations.
